Hi! I'm Destiny Ayanna, a proud Afro-Latina and LA native on a mission to build proper representation for the Afro-Latin community here on the West Coast.
salvagedla™ was originally created to be the solution to eco-conscious living when it comes to fashion in Los Angeles. Now that sustainability and eco-friendly living has become trendy, I've rebranded salvagedla™ to be my personal remedy to the lack of representation for the Afro-Latin community here in Los Angeles.
Raised by my Ecuadorian family, self-discovery of what Afro-Latinism means to me has been an ongoing experience. Not being the "stereotypical" visual of a Latina, I've learned to love the spectrum I live in of what Latinism means. I've had many experiences where Latin-owned brands hire me to model, only to then remove me from their social platforms or not hire me at all — probably because I look too Black ;)
So this is the safe space I wished was created for aspiring models and everyday people like me. Building a platform and curating pieces for my Afro-Latin community is the overall agenda.
Thank you for taking the time to understand who you're investing in. <3
To my Belizean, Ecuadorian, and Afro-Latin community —¡Esto es para nosotros!!
Con todo mi corazón,
Destiny Ayanna
